The first step in composing an Analytical Writing essay is to read the prompt carefully. A 0 score means that the essay task was not original, was copied, or was not on topic. Essay writing is scored on a 0-to-6 scale. Consequently, every test-taker should devote some time to practicing the Analytical Writing measure. A good score in AWA shows that the test taker can write an essay that analyzes complex ideas, evaluates arguments, and engages in focused discussions. The GRE Analytical Writing section tests the test taker’s critical thinking and essay-writing skills. Both sections measure the student’s ability to write clearly and critically on a given topic. The verbal reasoning section is scored out three points while the analytical writing portion is scored on a six-point scale. Both sections of the test are marked out of six points. The Analytical Writing section of the GRE scores is calculated from a scaled score of 260 to 340. Then you can compare these scores to those of other test takers to determine where you stand. In addition to this, you can find out what the scores on each section mean. It will also tell you what your average scaled score is, and what percentile rank you’re in. This includes the Verbal and quantitative sections. The GRE score chart will tell you how well you’ve performed on each section of the test.
